HOLD, an exhibition at Perspective Gallery in Evanston, IL.
Six BFA students from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) were nominated by faculty to participate in this Invitational Exhibition. The show was curated by Aimée Beaubien, Chair in the Department of Photography and Professor at SAIC.
The show features bodies of work that connect through themes of loss, distance, identity, and memory -- beautiful stated by Beaubien.
Participating artists: Abigail Ackles, Isabel Lim, Dev Stolkiner, Collin Lust, and Ethan Kunoff.

My work consists of 16 Cyanotype prints of selected found childhood images existing with fine arts photographs of my childhood home.

Project Statement:
Memories have a tendency to corrode over time and our perception of past events becomes increasingly detached from reality. My images represent the decay of past perceptions and examine the connection between memory and place. This project is an attempt to cope with the loss of memories.
Memories create a sense of self, guide our actions, and situate ourselves in the world. Long-term memories, especially, are the essence of our identities and, yet, are malleable. The context of how memories are established informs our ability to remember, including physical location, mental states, and emotions.
By using vernacular and artistic photography, my work creates a bond between images of my childhood memories and the house in which they were formed. The artistic photographs of my childhood home re-contextualize the family snapshots of everyday life.
